Ivy M. Koh, BSc, OD
Dr. Ivy Koh completed both her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees with Dean's Honours at the Univeristy of Waterloo. She has received numerous scholarships and awards recognizing her aptitude for the profession, including the E.J. Chisholm Memorial Scholarship for Pediatric Optometry as well as the A.W. Cole Award for Clinical Excellence. In her final year, she completed an Ocular Disease and Therapeutics externship at Omni Eye Services in Atlanta, Georgia - a large tertiary care ophthalmology centre where she worked under the guidance of corneal, glaucoma and retinal ophthalmologists.
After graduation, Dr. Koh spent time practicing optometry in a variety of clinical settings in her home province of Ontario. She worked as a staff optometrist in a private ophthalmology clinic, diagnosing ocular pathology and performing diabetic retinal screenings. She also devoted time to a few busy private practices, with a focus on contact lens fitting and primary eye care for all ages - from toddlers to the elderly. Dr. Koh also gained experience working at a large refractive surgery centre, screening candidates for Lasik/PRK and cataract surgery, and managing post-operative complications.
Falling in love with the west coast lifestyle, Dr. Koh is excited about her relocation to Vancouver and plans to take advantage of the mild climate to keep active in her favourite sports, which include fastpitch, basketball, running, and skiing. During her free time, she loves to attend live concerts and in addition to playing piano, she is currently attempting to learn the acoustic guitar. She is very happy to serve the eye care needs of the greater Vancouver area at the Mount Pleasant Optometry Centre.
